MISSIONS The Mission of the local church is defined by the scriptures. Jesus commanded and commissioned His disciples in Mt.28:18-20. Vs. 19 says,"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." Mark 16:15 Jesus commanded them, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Acts 1:8 records the Lord Jesus before he ascended into Heaven saying," But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in Judea, and in Samaria, and into the uttermost part of the earth." We believe the mission of the local church is to fulfill His command and commission by taking the gospel locally and into the world either personally or by financially supporting others. We use the Faith Promise Method whereby each person gives by faith believing God to supply their need as they give an offering either weekly or monthly to missionaries approved by the congregation.This offering is above the tithe for the operation of the local church. Special offerings for Evangelists and other missionaries are received regularly. |
